JACK came over yesterday

he was a BIG help. so were Leigh and Ian. anybody want some rubble? the slab under our shed ranged from 4"-12" thick and included: dry, powdery concrete mix, full-bag shaped pieces of mortar mix, bricks, core samples, all thread, fencing material, a metal rake head and a piston with con-rod still attached! sweet.

we don't need no stinkin deck

the rest of the deck came down, mostly because it was so incredibly poorly constructed. check out that wall framing!! we culled through all the piles of demo and extracted all re-usable wood [which was less than we hoped for] and sorted the 'clean green' for composting, then had the mountains of waste hauled away. so depressing to know its all just going to be buried somewhere. . .

many thanks and baby power

stewart says: thank you all so much again for the contribution to TheGrill. smokeouts to follow. also, we had some great help from Jonas the other day. Baby Power! Fight for the Rights of Babies!

house pruning

we destroy with a little help from our friends [well JP at least]. the deck we're left with is "nice" [2x4 on the flat, 4' span, 2-layers 1/2" OSB...] even Sofie was a help. anybody wanna do dump run? the walls and roof were so poorly framed with 'shorts', that there is no lumber that's really salvage-quality. bummer. we also found at least 6 bird's nests, paper wasps, and many mini-bumblebees...
